This is an antique English figural knife rest or knife holder with the ends being rthe legendary Phoenix bird rising from the flames with a barley twist bar. The knife rest measures 1 inch high by 4 inches long by 1.5 inches wide, made of EPNS silver plated metal and was made in England 1880-1900. The figural birds or Phoenix knife rest is in excellent condition but could use a bit of polish. A very rare and exceptional find. Knife rests were a victorian brilliant idea to decoratively keep your knife off the table and the tablecloth clean.
