Turkish Ottoman solid silver portable pen case from 18th century (Divit). This solid silver inkwell with a pen-case is deeply hand chiseled in a provincial Balkan manner. Details: on the bottom of the inkwell is a sculptured image of a hunter shooting a bird, the lid is mounted on hinges executed in the shape of French Rocco shell; a characteristic motif for 18th century Ottoman artwork. Since this is provincial Balkan silver there are no imperial silver hallmarks (Tugras) stamped on the pen case. Weight; 295 g. Length; 7 ¾ inches 19,8 cm.
