This nineteenth century silver Russian icon on wood panel features Cyrillic inscriptions, painted figures of saints, executed in tempura or oil, plus exceptional and large jewels. It carries an assayer's hallmark, A.C. with the year 1865, 84 zolotniki mark indicating silver purity of 84/96 (.875), Moscow mark depicting St. George slaying a dragon, and the maker's mark in Latin alphabet, B.C. Measures 17.5 x 19.2 x 3 in, and weighs an estimated 7-9 lbs. We do not know the maker. Additional images forwarded upon request.
