Antique, early 19th century, Chinese military regulation broadsword Dao, Ching Dynasty period. Details: heavy and thick blade is made from hand forged Damascus steel with long narrow groove on both sides, mounted in iron guard and pommel, the wooden grip is painted in black and has a small hole for the tassel, the wooden scabbard is covered by painted in black and hand stitched leather, large iron fittings. Overall length in the scabbard: 39 inches (99cm). Length of blade: 27 ½ inches (70cm). The sword in the scabbard weights approximately 4 pounds.
