Antique Chinese Fire Stand

Unavailable
An unusual and interesting piece. Wooden side table with drawer located at the bottom of the table and with a metal basin resting in a carved out area. We are told this was used as a fire stand---to hold water in the basin in case of a fire. Today, it can be used as a plant stand or as a small fountain, if a water pump is placed in the basin. The carvings add a sense of whimsy, perhaps resembling tongues of fire. Notice the design is bolder at the top of the table and diminishes towards the lower portion--unusual and interesting.
