Antique Bronze Clock & Candelabra Set, 19th C. France
Description: 3 Pc. Antique Gilt Bronze & Porcelain Mantel Clock & Candelabra Garniture Set, Late 19th C. France. The Gothic Style gilt bronze pieces feature gilt and painted "Sevres" style porcelain column supports, medallions and finial. The porcelain clock face is painted with two figures The matching pair of four light candelabra are similarly decorated with hand painted porcelain and figural supports. The hand painted clock face is signed by the artist (unclear). The back of the movement is stamped with circular "JAPY FRERES MEDAILLE D'HONNEUR" mark along with "232" and "69". The underside of the porcelain plaque to the base of the clock is marked with painted light blue "X" mark.
Dimensions: Clock: 17in. High, 11-1/2in. Wide, 6.5in. Deep. Candelabra: 17-1/2 to 18in. High, 8-1/2in. Wide, 6-1/2in. Deep. Clock Weight: 17.25lbs. Pr. Candelabra Weight: 18.5lbs.
Condition: Three of the porcelain columns on the clock case have been repaired/overpainted (two on the back and one on the front left). One of the porcelain columns on one candelabra has been repaired/overpainted. The key and pendulum for the clock are missing. The condition of the clock movement is not known or guaranteed. There is some minor rubbing/wear to the gilding on the bronze to each piece (primarily to the surface of each candleholder which may have been replaced). The minute hand on the clock has been broken and repaired/soldered. One of the bobeches on the candelabra is missing (not very noticeable). There is some minor dirt/dust to the surface of each piece. There are a number of small holes to the bronze candlesticks, indicating they may have been wired for electricity at one time. Otherwise, the pieces are in good condition.
