Antique Bronze & Gilt Black Opaline Glass Lamp, 19th C.
Description: Antique Bronze & Gilt Black Opaline Glass Table Lamp, Late 19th-Early 20th C. Probably France. The surface of the paneled black glass base is decorated with gilt edges, the top fitted with a brass burner form top with beaded and foliate scrolled edges and pierced grapevine pattern band with key and knob below a post with two light sockets and adjustable height finial. The lamp is not marked. Dimensions: Full Lamp (to top of finial): 24-1/2" High, 5-3/8" Diameter. Lamp Base (to top of burner/cap): 13" High. Weight: 5.4lbs. Condition: The cord has been cut and the lamp will need to be re-wired. There is considerable rubbing/wear to the gilding along the surface of the glass. There is some oxidation/wear to the surface of the brass mounts. The key to the burner/cap is loose. There is some bending/buckling to the brass neck between the top of the glass and base of the burner/cap. There are a few dents and small chips/losses to the brass band around the base edge of the glass reserve/base. Otherwise, the lamp is in good condition.
