Antique British 1796 Pattern Light Cavalry troopers saber from Napoleonic war. Simple iron stirrup hilt of characteristic form with knuckle bow, shield shape langets, short quillon and leather covered wooden grip. Curved single edged blade with brad fuller, ricaqsso struck with British ordnance mark stamped on the rear of the blade with the maker name “DAWES” in its original steel scabbard with two suspension rings. Same wear to the grip, small dents in the scabbard otherwise in good condition. MEASUREMENTS: Overall length with the scabbard: 98, 5cm (38 3/8 in), the length without the scabbard: 93 cm (35 5/8 in), length of the blade: 81, 5 cm (32 in) width of the blade at widest point: 4cm
