Antique Black Velvet Sequined Evening Bag Purse
Click thumbnails for expanded view.
This evening bag is made of black velvet. It has a pattern on the front made out of bronze colored sequins edged in plum colored glass seed beads. These look to be an early form of sequins. They are made out of clear heavy plastic and coated with bronze or gold paint. Up close you can see that a lot of them have lost some of their color, many are chipped and several are missing. The velvet is in excellent condition. The frame is made out of brass with a filigree knob on the top and it shows discoloration. On the backside at the top is a "V" shaped loop for a finger to slide through to hold the bag. A black patterned silk lines the interior, and there is a pocket sewn along the back. The top left seam has come loose about 1/3". There are no other loose seams or tears, and the interior is very clean.
