Antique Bacchanale Gilded Carved Wooden Marble Console
This fantastic antique console features a marble top and extensively carved frame with Bacchanale theme. The top and base have carved reed-and-tie moldings, and a lovely cherub surrounded by grape vines and leaves supports the top. It measures 36" wide, 18.5" deep and 32" high. There is a break to the decorative branch along the left side which we will restore prior to shipment. There is a crack to the pedestal just above the base which is noticeable on the right side, but the table is structurally sound. This table dates from the nineteenth century and has warped some. The frieze which supports the marble top is flat and the table sits flat, but the lower portion is turned a few degrees to the left. This item resides in our client's gallery on the Upper East Side of Manhattan (New York City) and may be seen in person by appointment. Additional images forwarded upon request. ( hantiques )
