Inspired by the work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh the Arts & Crafts designers deliberately attempted to replace the more mass-produced ornate furniture styles with the simple lines of classical furnishings carried through in understated classic straight lines. Typically constructed out of solid oak, functionality and utilitarianism was key in the Arts & Crafts design. This stand exemplifies just that, with its solid oak construction, octagonal shaped top, straight-lined X-shaped spreaders, and sturdy straight-lined legs.
