Antique 18th century, Indo Persian shield Separ- Dhal. DETAILS: circular convex form shield of brown translucent rhino hide, upturned rim, four brass bosses in the form of stylized flowers affixed around gold painted central medallion. On the outer surface four ring-bolts for the rope to hold the shield. Approximately: 45cm (17 3/4 in) in diameter.
Similar shields are in the famous collections of National Museum New Delhi, Military Museum Tehran and Niavaran Palace Museum
