Angelo Asti Art Nouveau Bronze Clock Garniture
This antique clock garniture features an enamel portrait of Sophia after the noted Art Nouveau period painter and illustrator, Angelo Asti (1847-1903). The work carries the signature "A. Asti", title "Sophia" and what appears to be an artist's monogram. The clock measures 12" tall and the petite two-candle candelabra each measure 6" tall. Though of the Art Nouveau period and featuring mostly organic motifs, the overall style of the garniture appears to be French Louis XV. The working condition of this clock is unknown. There are two restorations to the face, but no other visible signs of damage or repair. This item resides in our client's gallery on the Upper East Side of Manhattan ( New York City ) and may be seen by appointment. Additional images forwarded upon request. ( hantiques )
