For Sale is a Lovely piece of Depression Glass made by The Hocking Glass Company of Lancaster, Ohio. The item is a Mayfair or Open Rose Candy Dish without its lid. It is done in the Rare and Hard to Find "Ice Blue" Color. This is a diagonal measurement. This is one of the Hardest Colors to find in the Mayfair pattern.
The Candy Jar has a very beautiful Ice Blue base Glass. It displays a very pleasing pattern of "Mayfair or Open Rose" Flowers on 4 sides. These are separated by vertical Smooth Scalloped Panels and is basically an 8 sided candy jar. There is a round Foot applied to the bottom with rectangular raised panels on the underside.
The Candy Jar is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The bottom shows minimal wear along the outside ring where it sits. Even the inside rim that the candy jar cover fits down into is almost as good as the day it was made. There isn't even a flea nick on this area!! It appears that the lid was broken early on with this piece and it saw minimal use.
The piece is unsigned but there is no doubt that this is an Original Anchor Hocking Ice Blue Mayfair Candy Jar. This is a wonderful piece to add to you Mayfair Collection. The quality doesn't get any better than this. This piece was made Circa 1931-1937.
