American Railroads Lift to Taxpayers Ad 1944 this is a December 23, 1944 advertisement. It is a nice black and white ad from Association of American Railroads. It says in World War One the government took over the railroads and congress had to appropriate of l,600,000,000 to meet deficits. In this war, the railroads have been managed by their owners. And since Pearl Harbor, the railroads have turned into the US Treasury the sum of 3,250,000,000 in taxes and today are paying federal taxes at the rate of nearly 4,250,000 every 24 hours. In mint condition. Photo is taken through plastic and may show wrinkles or crookedness that is not in the ad. This original magazine tear sheet measures 10 1/2 inches wide by 13 1/2 inches tall.
