American Majolica Portrait Tile

$145.00
Quantity available: 1
Charming tile of a winged putto or faery resting upon the branches of a cherry tree in blossom and playing the lute. The tile is intaglio carved and relief molded in exquisite detail by the American Encaustic Tiling Company, Zanesville, OH. It is finished in a pale (cherry blossom?) pink majolica glaze. The tile is in very good condition with no scratches or nicks to the surface. It does have corner nicks at lower right, upper left and, the largest, at lower left all of which have been painted over in a matching color by a previous owner. A really sweet image.
