This book is in poor condition, but stories can be read. This is a wonderful look at illustrations by John Rae in the early 1900's. With one exception, all the tales are adapted from the legends collected by Henry R.Schoolcraft, ethnologist and government agent for the Lake Superior country, and published in 1839 with the tittle, "Algic Researches.'Iagoo, the Story Teller is the narrator of these old stories.I don't know why the bird on cover doesn't show up as tan.The colors are also reversed on the back.I don't want to throw this book away. I loved the stories and Rae's illustrations should be treasured by someone. I have not had time to research either the writer or illustrator. Pages are here, but not all intact
