Extraordinary early double-sided painted wooden game board. The front side--a dart board--is colorfully painted in a very graphic pattern using brown, black, mustard, chrome yellow, orange, red and green pigments. The back side is simply painted with an orange bullseye and pencil-scored lines representing a traditional dartboard. Each section has a glued-on paper numbers.
The pine board is made up of three planks with tongue-in-groove joints. The board has canted corners and a very nice warm patina.
Origin: America, circa 1900. Condition: excellent, all original, a spot of white paint is on the left side of the front, and of course the board has many dart holes from years of being used (apparently mostly from players that were pretty good!). Size: 17-1/2" x 21-5/8".
