The Owens Tile and Pottery Company of Ohio became the Empire Tile Company in 1923 and was in operation until 1928. This 6 inch square and 1/2 inch thick tile is decorated in the cuenca, or dry line, technique. It shows a couple crossing a bridge in a landscape of tall poplar trees. The back has the impressed mark " EMPIRE". The condition is excellent with one tiny fleck on the top left corner.
