Beautifully engraved certificate from the Allied Packers, Incorporated issued in 1922. This historic document was printed by the American Banknote Company and has an ornate border around it with a vignette of an allegorical woman between two globes. This item has the printed signatures of the Companys Vice President and Assistant Secretary and is over 81 years old.
Certificate Vignette Allied Packers was incorporated in Delaware on June 6, 1919. the company was the result of a merger of Batchelder and Snyder Company, Boston, MA, the largest meat distributing company in New England; W. S. Forbes and Company, Richmond, VA; C. Klinck Packing Company, Buffalo, NY; Macon Packing Company, Macon, GA; Parker Webb and Company, Detroit, MI; F. Schenk and Sons Company, Wheeling, WV; Chas. Wolff Packing Company, Topeka, KS; and the Matthews-Blackwell, Ltd., the largest packers in Canada, operating plants in Branford, Hull, Montreal, Peterboro and Toronto. The company was acquired by Hygrade Food Products in 1929. Hygrade Food Products was eventually acquired by Sara Lee in 1989.
