AFRICAN ARTIFACTS: NIBA OR D'MBA SHOULDER MASK, FERTILITY FIGURE - BAGA PEOPLE OF GUINEA. It represents the mother of fertility, protector of pregnant women, and presides over all agricultural ceremonies. Measurements are 37" T X 11.5" W X 10" D and 20 lbs, 11 oz. NOTE: THESE ARTIFACTS ARE FROM AN ESTATE IN SOUTHERN MARYLAND. In order to provide the most acdurate information, in addition to what accompanied the artifacts, I confered with the National Museum of African Art, Smithsonian Institution. Each artifact is listed as IN THE STYLE OF (ARTICULATED EXAMPLES OF 20th. CENTURY EXOTIC DÉCOR).
