Wonderful and beautiful set of 4 lovely 19th C fashion plates in simple gilt frames with great hand painted french mattes. They are most likely from Ackermann's Repository of the Arts or La Belle Assemblee. PLEASE NOTE - These are not Godey's.
Circa early 1800's. Probably 1814 - 1817.
The prints show costumes influenced by the Greek independence movement. Wealthier characters from Jane Austen such as Emma Woodhouse or Mary Crawford (or Elizabeth Bennet after becoming Mrs. Darcy) would wear. The prints tinted in soft colors. The mats are especially well done with clusters of pink and blue flowers vines and ribbons. A really great looking set.
Framed size: 12-3/4 x 16-3/4 inch
Very Good overall condition. Some very minor marks on the frames.
