This lovely gold leaf damascene butterfly was brought back to the United States from Spain by a service man after WWII. The explanation as to the production of damascene is typed on an old Royal typewriter and was sent with the piece as to its authenticity. As explained in the letter, the piece is coated with 24K gold as is the body of the butterfly itself. It is in excellent condition, having very limited wear and still has the original silken pad that it came on. It measures 1½ inches by 1 inch and awaits a new and appreciative home.
