To a New Hampshire soft pine neoclassic fireplace mantelpiece. The mantel shelf is of butterfly form; below are several supporting mouldings above a course of reeded dentilation which crosses three applied tablets to the frieze. The end tablets have incised diamonds with pearl tips. The central tablet has a large oval incised fan device with oval center. A band course crosses the two end tablets and stops at the central tablet. The mantel jambs or legs are mounted with ovolo reeded columns with box capitals and projected plinths. A second course of plinths has been added to the mantel bottom to raise the mantel for todays higher openings. The mantel has been hand cleaned of all old paint buildup, woodwork repairs have been made as necessary and a rich hand rubbed patina finish applied. Should you wish to paint the mantel, use a soft cloth with turpentine to remove any wax from the surface of the mantel prior to painting. NOTE: This mantle should be installed by your mechanic in accordance with all local fire and building codes. (#1758)
