To a unique Hudson Valley soft pine fireplace mantelpiece. The buttery moulded shelf has two projected ends; below is a moulded belt course section supporting the shelf and crossing three carved tablets. The entire frieze is incise carved with fan and gouge work. The central tablet has a neoclassic urn with four quarter round fan spandrels. The tablets are supported on a moulded belt course below which is a course of gouge carving with half fans at the ends. The mantel jambs or legs have fluted and reeded pilasters on double stepped plinths. The mantel surround opening is mounted with a finely moulded section and the exterior of the mantel has a bullnose reed member. The mantel has been hand cleaned of all old paint buildup, woodwork repairs have been made as necessary and a rich hand rubbed patina finish applied. Should you wish to paint the mantel, use a soft cloth with turpentine to remove any wax from the surface of the mantel prior to painting. NOTE: This mantle should be installed by your mechanic in accordance with all local fire and building codes. (#1694)
