2003/975 Northern New Jersey Neoclassic Mantel c.1800-1810

Unavailable
A fine and rare small size soft pine fireplace mantelpiece. The moulded shelf is supported with stepped moulding which returns on itself. The hearth opening has a molded trim section as does the jamb exterior, both of which are footed on plinths. This example retains almost all of the original composition enrichment of bellflowers centered by rosettes. This is a most rare New Jersey survival. The mantel has been hand cleaned of all old paint buildup, woodwork repairs have been made as necessary and a rich hand rubbed patina finish applied. Should you wish to paint the mantel, use a soft cloth with turpentine to remove any wax from the surface of the mantel prior to painting. NOTE: This mantle should be installed by your mechanic in accordance with all local fire and building codes. (#1536)
