To a fine quality Chester County, Pennsylvania soft pine folk art fireplace mantelpiece. The moulded arcaded shelf is above a course of fluted dentilation. Below is the plain frieze mounted with three richly carved tablets having stop fluting, snowflakes and vertical fluting. The tablets are footed on a moulded belt course carved with snowflakes. The mantel jambs or legs are mounted with flat reeded pilasters which have moulded capitals and friezes carved with snow flakes. The pilasters are footed on projected plinths and the mantel opening is mounted with a moulded member. This mantel has a neoclassic Philadelphia feel softened with richly developed local folk art carving. The mantel has been hand cleaned of all old paint buildup, woodwork repairs have been made as necessary and a rich hand rubbed patina finish applied. Should you wish to paint the mantel, use a soft cloth with turpentine to remove any wax from the surface of the mantel prior to painting. NOTE: This mantle should be installed by your mechanic in accordance with all local fire and building codes. (#1473)
