2003/965 New Jersey Country Neoclassic Mantel c.1820-1830

Unavailable
An interesting Bergen County, New Jersey neoclassic mantel of soft white pine. This example uses gouge carving in most unusual ways. The serpentine shaped shelf is mounted with a rare splash section above. Below the shelf is a course of dentilation in various styles. The mantel frieze is mounted with three plain poplar tablets. The end tablets forming capitals over half round poplar tapered columns with some fluting. The applied flat plinths are moulded to the sides. The mantel has been hand cleaned of all old paint buildup, woodwork repairs have been made as necessary and a rich hand rubbed patina finish applied. Should you wish to paint the mantel, use a soft cloth with turpentine to remove any wax from the surface of the mantel prior to painting. NOTE: This mantle should be installed by your mechanic in accordance with all local fire and building codes. (#1469)
