2000/895 Hudson Valley Mantel c.1800-1815

Unavailable
To a fine quality Hudson Valley fireplace mantelpiece developed in the Anglo-Dutch neoclassic manner. The mantel displays rich carving including oval webs, stop fluting, circles and gouge work. The Dutch influence is seen in the vase form turned columns with tapered necks and bases which are footed on projected plinths. The mantel has a deep bowed shelf with rich knife edge moulding below. This mantel was reduced in width prior to its original installation as evidence of the structure of the original shelf. The bottom of the mantel jambs and plinths have been extended and restored. The mantel has been hand cleaned of all old paint buildup, woodwork repairs have been made as necessary and a rich hand rubbed patina finish applied. Should you wish to paint the mantel, use a soft cloth with turpentine to remove any wax from the surface of the mantel prior to painting.
This mantel should be installed by your mechanic in accordance with all local fire and building codes.
