BEAUTIFUL VICTORIAN 1880's PICKLE CASTER!
The Pickle caster sets were basically designed to contain and dispense pickles, before refrigeration. These pickle casters evolved from the caster sets used on vintage tables in the 18th Century.
This Victorian Four Piece Pickle Caster Set contains a silver-plated caster base, a basket weave glass patterned jar insert, a silver plated lid and one set of pickle tongs. This antique pressed pattern engulfs this glass pickle jar with nostalgia design. The glass jar itself is very heavy duty for long-lasting use. The base flows with vintage design including, geometric, scrollwork and beading. The pickle tongs have claw bird like feet and sit conveniently on their hanger on the side. The lid is embellished with a finial at the top. This pickel caster set is unsigned.
These pickle caster sets have gained popularity among collectors, so they may become rare in the near future.
CONDITION: Great! No major damage or repairs, however, one claw on the double three prong tong is missing. It needs a real good cleaning. The glass jar is in excellent condition no scratches there are a few spots on the top of the jar and couple small chips on the bottom as seen in photos.
MEASUREMENTS: 11" tall. 4.5" diameter base. Jar is 4.5" tall. 3.25" in diameter.
