19th c Egg Tempera on paper and mounted onto board - An unusual daylight view of a vapor eruption of Mt. Vesuvius witnessed from the Bay of Naples. The foreground depicts a small sailboat and one row boat on calm waters, a very tranquil setting. The paintings is mounted in its original antique wood frame painted black with paper backing and a taupe with gilt border matt. Excellent condition with only minor scuffs to the wood frame. Overall 13" by 8 1/2", image size is approximately 7" by 5".
