19th Century Japanese Folk Buddha, hand carved and hand painted out of a single pieces of wood. Buddhism started to proliferate into China from its thousand year roots in India, were it was incubated for several centuries before expanding out into neighboring Japan, Korea and then the rest of South East Asia. And was practiced in the royal courts of six Dynasties, before it began to proliferate into the Chinese village population. In modern times, religious object of South East Asia up until the 19th century, have become highly regarded for their fantastic historical value to museums, galleries and collectors throughout the world.
