1999/865 Chester County Federal Bullseye Mantel c.1800-1820

Unavailable
To an unusual large size Federal white pine fireplace mantelpiece. The mantel is reported to have been removed from a large Chester County Farmhouse. The mantel displays the rich form as found in the Philadelphia area in the period. Interesting are the two turned blocks to the central frieze tablet. There are two plain tablets on either side which form capitals over moulded fluted pilasters mounted on projected plinths. The mantel shelf is arcaded, below is a course of reeded dentils and various stepped mouldings. The hearth surround is mounted with a moulded section topped by plain mitre blocks. The mantel has been hand cleaned of all old paint buildup, woodwork repairs have been made as necessary and a rich hand rubbed patina finish applied. Should you wish to paint the mantel, use a soft cloth with turpentine to remove any wax from the surface of the mantel prior to painting.
This mantel should be installed by your mechanic in accordance with all local fire and building codes.
