To a Connecticut neoclassic mantel of c.1800-1810 period. The mantel shelf is finely moulded and mounted with various step mouldings ending in a reeded belt course. The plain mantel frieze is mounted with two end tablets reeded in a herring bone design. The tablets are footed on a plain belt course moulding which forms the capitals for the two reeded pilasters to each jamb. The pilasters are footed on projected plinths. The mantel has been hand cleaned of all old paint buildup, woodwork repairs have been made as necessary and a rich hand rubbed patina finish applied. Should you wish to paint the mantel, use a soft cloth with turpentine to remove any wax from the surface of the mantel prior to painting.
This mantle should be installed by your mechanic in accordance with all local fire and building codes.
