About The Poster:  Colloque National: While in recent years the St. Jean Baptiste parade and celebration have become markedly political and almost nasty, there was a simpler and more innocent time - and we have this poster to prove it. We love the stilt walkers and the moose (yup - look hard, it's like finding Waldo)... The politics of the province of Quebec have always provided inspiration for it's homegrown poets, musicians, playwrights and composers. In the 1970s and 80s (and today!) there was a great uprising of nationalist sentiment amongst the French population of the province who felt that they had been treated as second-class citizens for too long. This social and political malaise was very evident in the outpouring of music and performance pieces - and posters of same - during that period.
