1954 Divinely Chic Vintage Vogue Mid-Century Ad- Ceil Chapman offers Elegant Fashions for Washington's Elite from Julius Garfinckel & Co. Absolutely Stunning Original Vintage Mid-Century Ad taken from the sublimely chic pages of a Summer, 1954 issue of Vogue Magazine. Gorgeous and Distinctive style created by designer Ceil Chapman is the epitome of Mid-Century chic- delicate organdy is swirled in pleated waves and seen in subtle sepia toned photograph done by artist Toni Frissell. Elegant modern and yet deliciously feminine fashions were tremendously popular in the years following the end of the second world war- fabrics were crafted and moulded into elaborate shapes with almost architectural beauty. This divine gown with it's off the shoulder bodice, nipped waist and full skirts was available primarily in shops catering to society leaders and the exceptionally well-heeled clientele De Pinna, New York and the rarefied locale of Julius Garfinckel of Washington, D.C. Designer Ceil Chapman's marvelous designs of magnificent gowns were also on display at the well-known location of New York's exclusive Bergdorf-Goodman. Ad is also a wonderful example of the artistry of then popular fashion photographer Toni Firssell among the best and brightest of her generation which includes Penn and Avedon. Ad measures 10 x 14 and is in crisp bright condition overall. Will be a lovely addition to any decor- also a fabulous holiday gift!
