1930 Charming Vintage Deco Ad- Heinz Rice Flakes Cereal offers Mom and Kiddies a Happy Healthful Breakfast Treat! Simply Wonderful Original Vintage Deco Ad taken from the pages of a September, 1930 issue of Good Housekeeping. The incredible color revolution which swept American advertising during the latter half of the twenties is perfectly represented in this image created for new Heinz brand Rice Flakes Cereal. Beautiful bounty of color gives this product a little lilt of glamour and sophistication. Note the brightly dressed kiddie with apple-red cheeks smiling down upon a product seen as the way to a happy, healthful morning meal to delight your family. Bowl and background are done in deep pink with white morning glories and a small box of the product in vivid shading of saffron and sapphire blue. Heinz brief attempt to jump on the cereal bandwagon is also an example of the ambitions of forward thinking companies during the dazzling Deco Era. Unknown artist-(Georgi was doing some work for the company at this time), gives the product zest and zeal to remind prospective buyers of it's possible benefits. Note the plug for a new booklet entitled Your Children's Future Told in Foods. The twenties was one of the first historical periods in which nutritional value in food became important to an increasingly wise, well-educated largely female consumer.
