1927 Elegantly Chic Vintage Deco Ad- Lavish Lucile Styles are Enhanced by New Holeproof Hosiery Stocking Styles! Simply Divine Original Vintage Deco Ad taken from the pages of a March, 1927 issue of Ladies Home Journal. Lucile Paris(aka Lady Duff-Gordon), was an early Twentieth Century British Phenomenon who in a few decades transformed herself from mere shop girl to society leader- first through her ravishing slightly naughty lingerie designs, then by selling herself in the emerging American market- through articles in magazines and a brilliant series of ads in which her clothing became more accessible through Sears Roebuck! Dauntless and enthusiastic, she seized every opportunity to make a name for herself as not only designer but arbiter of taste. 1927 was an incredible year for Lucile as she launched an aid campaign in conjunction with the popular brand Holeproof Hosiery, reminding Americans that her elegant clothing in touch with the rhythms of modern reality could be enhanced with a variety of beautiful hosiery shades. Beautiful illustrations showcase the unique vision that was Lucile in 1927 stylish, sophisticated modern and very chic. Note the distinct glamour of her fur trimmed cloak with unique flowered lame bell-shaped sleeves and the artful simplicity and geometric design of her afternoon frock in gray and black crepe georgette! Coincidentally 1927 is also the year her notorious novelist sister Elinor, helped put star Clara Bow on the map by declaring she had "It", that indefinable quality of being attractive to both men and women on the screen. Wonderful example of modernity and marketing through lovely ads- the three sketches were meant to convey the thrill of new ensembles from a leading Paris house of the day. Fabulous example of flapper fashion at it's most sublimely sophisticated. Ad measures 11 x 15 condition is bright and crisp overall. Will add some of the flawless charm of the Art Deco era to any home it graces!
