For the collector of theater memorabilia, this is an incredible find. This large movie poster came out of a theater in England and dates to the 1920's.. Very Art Deco with great graphics and vibrant color. Robinson Crusoe is portrayed by a beautiful flapper. The poster is around 8 feet high and approximately 40" wide. These were made in two pieces that would have been pasted together (this one has not) and it has a blank area where the theater would paste the place and time of the showing. Posters like this are indredibly rare and highly desirable. Minor losses around the perimeters ( a couple tears), otherwise in great shape. Displays beautifully. Would be a great decorative piece in a home theater or office. These exceptional posters were taken around by a "Front" man in advance of a traveling troop of actors who would go from town to town performing theatrical plays around the turn of the century. The Front man would write in with a crayon, or print on with a block printer, the time, place, and price details in the empty box at the top, then paste these to a wall or other appropriate place. Sometimes they went into frames in front of the Opera Houses or theaters that they were performing in. Predecessor to the movie poster! Phenomenal detail and coloring! Vivid colors, no fading! Linen backed and in pristine condition. PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL ITEMS IN OUR SHOP ARE ORIGINAL ANTIQUES AND NOT REPRODUCTIONS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST!
