1920 Heavenly Vintage Deco Ad- Ethereal Goddess Envisions the Dawn of a Better Day courtesy of Globe Cord Tires Divine Dresser Artwork. Rare and Absolutely Gorgeous Original Vintage Deco Ad taken from the pages of a May, 1920 issue of Saturday Evening Post Magazine. An interest in the other-worldly imbued many advertising art of the latter Jazz Age and early Deco eras with a fantastic sense of fantasy and beauty often sublime in aspect full of color and glamour. This gorgeous ad is simple and stunning- artist Dresser uses a pale gauzy palette to suggest aspects of grace and divinity- a gleaming goddess in yellow draperies holds her hands to the heavens where she views the universe in the far-off sapphire skies encircled by an enormous Globe Cord tire- making it cleverly resemble Saturn. Although the aim here is to sell the product the artwork lifts the image far beyond the ordinary, the illumination the oval shapes and the subtle shadings of green, yellow and blue make it a truly remarkable work of commercial art. Note the exalted claim that Globe Cord Tires guaranteed for 8,000 miles will lead the driver to the Dawn of a Better Day.
