The Fate Marable Orchestra with Louis Armstrong, 2nd trumpet, 11" X 14" B\W print made from the original 1919 photograph. With Fate Marable on piano, Baby Dodds, drums, Johnny Dodds, clarinet, Johnny St Cyr, on banjo, "Pops" Foster, bass, Bill Ridgeley, trombone, Dave Jones, violin, Joe Howard, 1st trumpet, and Louis Armstrong, 2nd trumpet, photographed on board the sternwheeler S.S. Capitol. Armstrong had been playing with a King Oliver "inspired" group in New Orleans when he heard of an opening in Fate Marable's orchestra. In 1919, he went to St. Louis and stayed with the Marable group until 1921. Professionally framed.
