First edition of "Oh Skin-nay! The Days of Real Sport", illustrated by Clare Briggs, verse by Wilbur D. Nesbit, published in 1913. This 125 page book is a collaboration between Clare Briggs, a very popular and much imitated illustrator and cartoonist of his time, and Wilbur D. Nesbit, an American poet and humorist. In this book, there are short, folksy poems by Mr. Nesbit on one page, followed by black and white drawings with tinted skin tones by Clare Briggs on the opposite pages which illustrate the themes of the poems. The book begins on New Years Day, depicts early small town life throughout the year, as seen through the eyes of a 12 year old boy, and ends on Christmas morning. It's a very nostalgic and humorous look at turn of the century America. The book measures about 12.75 inches by 9.25 inches by .75 inches. It has a cloth cover and binding. Condition is good for its age. The book is intact, with minor discoloration and tearing, and a bit of separation of the front cover from the first page of the book.
