Simply Lovely Original Vintage Art Nouveau/ Edwardian Era Ad taken from the pages of a Spring, 1902 issue of Harper's Weekly. Traveling west in the early days of the Edwardian Era often invoked comfort, luxury and the ultimate in sophitication. Rock Islan System boasts that it is now possible totravel to the Land of Flowers in Sixty-Six hours aboard the well-appointed and lavish Golden State Limited. California was viewed at the time- (just before the theatrical world invented Hollywood), as a world apart, filled with exotic flora and fauna, beautiful ocean views, and the delectable scent of flowers wafting through sparkling blue skies. Clear crisp clean and utterly fascinating it was the destination of par excellence for all manner of travelers. Here a lovely fashionable young maiden sporting dazzling white skirts, gets set to embark on her journey- thrilled to note that the new Golden State Limited offers observation cars, barber service and is lit and cooled by electricity! Beautiful simple graphic is a perfect example of the modern traveler- often female and unaccompanied as if to say that this Rock Island System is so clean, so modern and luxurious that only the finest of gentlemen would deign travel it's portals to California! Ad measures 7 x 11 overall condition is merely good- there is a slight browning at the top corner. A sublime example of Railway travel as is appeared just over a century ago.
