This exquisite antique French tapestry of a peaceful pastoral scene is from the 1700’s. It has been woven with primarily with silk acoording to our tapestry restorer. The rest is done in wool. The scene depicts a heavily wooded area to the back with a water and garden area in the forefront. A fountain is on the right topped by an urn, two ducks are in the water, and the shepherd with his flock of goats and sheep are to the left. This tapestry has velcro sewn to the back edges for easy hanging. This serene pastoral scene woven in the 1700’s will be an asset to any room.
CONDITION: Good antique condition. Wear commensurate with age. Old and recent restorations to other section separations; backing sewn on recently. Very feint discoloration as expected with ageH=93 1/2, W=87 1/2
