18th Century Ivory Bracelet ~ Massive and RARE!

Unavailable
This enormous 18th Century (or earlier) ivory bracelet was no doubt intended for a man as it is truly massive in size and weight. Formed from the hollow tusk of an elephant, it clearly displays the Lines of Retzius, those fine intersecting lines that are unique to elephant ivory. These intersecting lines that give an engine-turned effect to the ivory are clearly visible in the cross section of the bracelet. This piece is so large: the outer dimension is approximately 4" by 3.5" and the inner dimension is approximately 3.25" x 2.25" and it weighs a little over half a pound. The ivory is dark, either from age or some kind of henna dye, with a gorgeous patina that has been worn smooth as satin from years of wear. This is an incredibly rare antique find and one to treasure for generations!
