18th Century Carved Stone Architectural-Madrid, Spain

This hand carved stone architectural came from a home in Madrid, Spain, and dates to sometime in the 1700’s.  This architectural is most likely an escutcheon with a partial inescutcheon (A smaller escutcheon that is placed within or superimposed over the main shield of a coat of arms.) There is a man and a woman in a boat upholding a flag together at the top right and bottom right and a heraldic eagle in the upper left and lower right.  The entire piece rests upon three iron legs, allowing the piece to be viewed with the upper portion raised at an angle.

This old and rare hand carved architectural will be an attraction anywhere it is placed.

Condition:  Wear to relief consistent with age; missing portions on escutcheon and inescutcheon; nicks and rubs to stone throughout consistent with age.

H=33 1/8, W=29 1/2, Stone Thickness=5, Maximum Depth=14 1/2 (where metal bracket on back extends furthest)
