This is a beautiful set of 12 sterling silver Gorham dinner plates done in the popular “Athenic” pattern. A great example of the Art Nouveau style, these plates are simple and elegant, with a border of strawberries & leaves, curling incised lines, and a subtly undulating rim. This line was introduced in 1901 and made by both hand and machine. The details of the design, its boldness and crispness, still look as lovely and clear as when it was first made. The back of each plate is stamped with the pattern number, “Sterling”, “Athenic”, and Gorham symbols. The plates are approx. 11” in diameter and the entire set of 12 plates weigh approx. 256 troy ounces.
