Exceptional Edition Of CHURCH SERVICES, bound in a fine leather binding with 2 Gothic Style Brass Clasps!
Containing:
"The Book Of Common Prayer", and administration of the sacraments and other rites and ceremonies of the church, according to the use of the United Church Of England And Ireland: together with the Proper Lessons for Sundays and other Holy-Days.
"Proper Lessons", To be read at Mattins And Evensong on the Sundays and Other Holy-Days, throughout the year.
"The New Testament", / Proper Lessons, Appointed to be read in Churches.
The Book Of Common Prayer, Proper Lessons & The New Testament were Published in. Oxford: Printed At The University Press.
Sold at the Oxford University Press Warehouse, 7 Paternoster Row, London; and by all Booksellers. M.DCCC.LXXI (1871).Also Contains:"Hymns, Ancient And Modern, With Introits and Anthems For Use in the Services Of The Church With Appendix". Contains 104 Pages, plus The Index, and Contents. (Most Church Services include a Hymns section at the end of the book of only a few pages!)
HYMNS Section: Printed For The Proprietors By: William Clowes And Sons, Stamford Street and Charing Cross. Publishing Office, 21 Charing Cross, S.W.
BINDING: Bound in brown, fine leather binding, with blind tooling accenting the raised bands on the spine of the book, and gold tooled lettering "CHURCH SERVICES" in one of the 5 compartments. Handsomely appointed with 2 gothic style brass clasps. Inscription dated 1872 "with fond and affectionate love", (see picture). Marbled endpapers, all fore edges of book are red with gilding applied. With 2 original, maroon colored ribbons still marking the pages for the owner.
Book measures: 5" High x 3 3/8" Wide x 1 3/4" Deep
Condition: NEAR FINE!! Binding is tight and secure, with absolutely no weakness in the hinges. Pages are pristine white, without so much as a fingerprint on the text pages! No Tears, No Turned Down Pages! All edges of binding are in excellent condition! The double brass clasps are secure, and a perfect fit! All edges of book were first dyed red, and then gold gilded!
This book has been treated with tender loving care for the past 141 years!!!!!
Included in the book, as a bonus, are 2 treasures that were inside the prayer book when I bought it:
A cross, with the words,
"The Lord Is My Rock".
