Particulars of a slave case of "popular Sovereignty" in Washington DC - members of congress attempt to raise $800 to buy a Negro woman (mother of eleven children) otherwise she will be separated from her family and shipped to Georgia. A Knights of the Golden Circle Speech-"Resolved, That we recognize in the aims of the K.G.Cs a movement which we heartily commend, because the Slavery States of this Union have in their success a guarantee not only for the continuance of the domestic institution of slavery, in their midst, but for the extension of the South, with all other elements of Southern civilization" Particulars of a slave insurrection-"A gentlemen Murdered by his slaves", "Decrease in Slaves in Delaware because owners find it more profitable to sell them at the South than to keep them." A Congressional Anti- Slavery resolution overwhelmingly rejected.
