1812 Virginia Slave Bill of Sale "Knows all men by these presents that Edward Eames of the county of Chesterfield, and the State of Virginia for and in consideration of the sum of Two Hundred and Seventy Five dollars current money of Virginia to me in hand paid by William Gill of the town of Petersburg the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have bargained and sold one negro man named Bobb, to the said William Gill to have and to hold the said negro man slave to the said William Gill, and his heirs forever, and I hereby warrant and define the rights title and interest in and to the said negro man Bobb....in Testimony whereof I have here unto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty seventh day of February 1812 Signed sealed and delivered in the presence of D.
